This painting depicts a girl lying on grass in what appears to be a forest. Her state is ambiguous, she could be either asleep or deceased. Nearby, fruits show signs of early decomposition, foreshadowing her fate. The piece was created entirely in oils using an indirect method, with the image built up through multiple layers, including final glazes to enhance depth and cohesion.
This painting is part of my postmortem series, which explores themes of mortality and the natural cycle of life and decay. Through this work, I reflect on the transient nature of existence and the quiet beauty found in moments of stillness and transformation.
