This painting is another piece in my postmortem series, inspired by 19th-century postmortem photography. The figure conveys a sense of anguish, touching her chest as she fades from left to right, symbolizing the departure of the spirit. Surrounding her, mushrooms and mycelium grow, representing death and decomposition.

The work was created in oils, with the figure painted from life. The surrounding environment was later added from imagination, enhancing the surreal quality of the scene.
